Horror, Landscape, and Visual Storytelling

Since 2006, Jillian McDonald’s videos and performances have featured archetypes, themes, and characters found in popular horror films. Most recently she has inserted her visual narratives into the romantic landscapes and gothic settings of Arizona, Buffalo, Manitoba, Sweden, and California. These cinematic stories are told without dialogue and star local actors who are often fans of the horror genre. McDonald will be discussing her recent artwork Valley of the Deer, which was shot across the Scottish highlands.
