Thinking of you: Riso Postcard Youth Workshop with Yolkless Press
Saturday 1 May, 1-4PM (with a break)
In this online youth workshop, Yolkless Press will introduce the basics of Risograph, a hybrid digital and analogue printing method that could be described as “silkscreen meets photocopier.” Using online software, participants will manipulate photographs and digital illustrations to make postcards to mail to friends and family. Through the process of making, we will share how our images relate to writing, connection and memory.
What you’ll get:
-
15 copies of your postcard
-
2 postage stamps for Canada-wide delivery
-
A printed Risograph how-to manual
-
The opportunity to display your work in Esker Foundation’s Bridge Space gallery
**Tech Requirements: In this workshop you will create a digital file that you’ll send to Yolkless Press to be printed. Your computer and web browser must be able to run the (free) Photopea website to participate: https://www.photopea.com/
Yolkless Press is an artist collective with an aim to nurture, facilitate and collaborate on book-based projects with artists in and around Calgary. Possible formats include: artists’ publications, books, postcards, posters, packaging, pamphlets, and other printed things. We think about the potential of artistic practice that can be disseminated in de-centred modes beyond the confines of art galleries.
This workshop is for youth, ages 15-24
