Youth Studio: Oceanic Printmaking with Eveline Kolijn
Inspired by Mel O’Callaghan’s current exhibition Pulse of the Planet, youth are invited to an experimental lab and printmaking workshop led by artist Eveline Kolijn. See diatoms and radiolarian skeleton slides through an antique microscope, experiment with pressed leaf printing, and create a blacklight-active linocut of a plankton organism with fluorescent ink!
Eveline Kolijn is a printmaker and installation artist living and working in Calgary whose art has evolved out of her interest in the diversity of human culture, and her fascination with patterns and processes found in nature. Growing up in the Caribbean, she has experienced both the beauty and demise of coral reefs. She strongly believes that the arts enrich society, and wants to share her experience and passion in learning environments and community involvement.Eveline received a MA in cultural anthropology from Leiden University in the Netherlands in 1986 and a BFA from the Alberta College of Art+ Design in 2008 including the Governor General’s Award for academic achievement.
