About Andil Gosine

Andil Gosine is a Professor of Environmental Arts and Justice at York University, Toronto. His work involves research, writing, artistic, and curatorial practices that explore the connections between ecology, power, and desire. His work often reflects his experiences as a queer person of colour.

Gosine has curated multiple shows including Unfinished Work, Leslie Lohman Museum, New York (2024); everything slackens in a wreck, Ford Foundation Gallery, New York (2022); and Wendy Nanan, Art Museum of the Americas, Washington (2021). In 2021, his book Nature’s Wild: Love, Sex, and Law in the Caribbean was published and was accompanied by a traveling exhibition of his artworks and collaborations. In 2014, he founded Visual Arts After Indenture, a project that collects visual art produced by descendants of indentured workers brought by the British to the Caribbean, Fiji, and Mauritius starting in the 19th century. The project led to the creation of numerous publications and special editions.
