Workshop: how we grow from here: Soft Sculpture with Taiessa
The Project Space exhibition variegata looks to the history of colonial botany and imagines a future where current trends in plant collecting push plant-life beyond, resulting in ghostly flora that lack the necessary components they require to thrive. In this workshop, we invite you to learn about the processes used to create these sculptures. Through a blend of hand- and machine-sewing, participants collaborated on plant sculptures that suit the future we hope to shape. Together participants hybridized and collectively imagined how future plant life could evolve as a form of speculative fiction and future-building.
